Leah Ash As a new mom, I struggled with being out of shape and carrying extra weight. I was in good shape before having a baby and exercised on a regular basis, but now I felt I could never get back to my past fitness level. I had a lot of weight to lose and more importantly, needed to rebuild my core strength. I felt as though I would never “get my body back”. I had heard numerous people talking about Combat Fitness and how it really worked. I really needed some motivation so I didn’t waste any time – I enrolled as soon as I could! I began my Combat Fitness journey on March 1st, 2010 and was so excited to be part of such a great program. At first, I found it difficult to accept the fact that my fitness level and endurance were lower than they had ever been before, but in no time I was well on my way to getting back into shape. I loved taking part in “group fitness” and the encouragement I received to work hard was extremely motivating. In the beginning, I couldn’t even do one “real” push-up using proper technique. Now, 8 months later, I can do many with ease. During the 1st month of Combat Fitness, I lost 8 inches and 10 lbs. I couldn’t believe it! Everyday of the week is a different workout. I particularly enjoy the Thursday group runs, and the strenuous hikes up Marble Mountain during the summer months. There is no pressure to perform at a certain level. I am encouraged to work at my own pace and the atmosphere is always positive! Working together as a team is so much fun, but the competitive nature of some activities certainly adds to my motivation. Combat Fitness, supplemented by a healthy weight loss program, enabled me to reach beyond my fitness goals. To date, I have lost a total of 52 lbs and more than 16 inches. I went from a size 14 to a size 5/6 and feel great! I am in the best shape of my life and have never had the muscle definition that I have today. Combat Fitness has helped me to take my fitness level to new heights and motivated me to accomplish many goals. I recently ran my first half-marathon in 1 hour, 50 minutes and felt strong crossing the finish line. I never thought that after having a baby, I could feel so fit! Thank you, MCpl., for making an amazing program like Combat Fitness available to people like me and for pushing me to my greatest potential each and every day! I feel like a new person every time I leave. |

You never know What you are capable of until you try
Arlene Curtis It was New Years Eve when a group of my family and friends got together to celebrate at my home. We had just finished eating as usual and were sitting around when someone decided that this was the year that they were going to lose weight and get in shape. I just laughed and thought good luck. Then everyone started marching to my washroom to step on my scales and make their New Years resolution. I thought what the heck and I did to. I could not believe what I saw. It was then I realized that my life style had to change. I joined the gym as soon as the holidays were over and began my journey. Before losing weight I felt tired and stressed all the time and working in daycare and raising a family was quite challenging . I just didn't have the energy to cope. In June 2008 I joined the group Combat Fitness and the changes in my life were amazing. Now I feel like everyday life is possible. I am running and weight training and continuing to reach my goals. I have recently ran and completed a 15K run. It's definitely something I could never have done before. To date I have went from a size 14 to an 8 and have lost a total of 12 inches and 30 pounds. Becoming physically fit and losing weight has been the greatest gift I have given myself and my family. You never know what you are capable of until you try and if someone like me can change my life so can others just like me. |

Doris King On July 23th, 2008 my best friend Beverley convinced me to do something that would impact me for the rest of my life, and that was to attend a Combat Fitness class. After attending a class that evening herself, she was all pumped up about it and decided that she would recruit her friends and family to join with her. It’s eight months later and we are all still attending the 6:00 am classes every morning. I was a faithful walker and thought I was in pretty good shape for a 46 year old until Combat Fitness and our first 3 km run around Glynmill Inn Pond. I thought I would literally pass out and certainly could not run the whole way, but I am proud to say now, that I can do a 10 km run on most days with relative ease. I have tried other activities in the past such as aerobics classes, swimming, yoga and joining a gym. Which are all great activities but I became bored very quickly with the same thing over and over and ended up quitting before I could see any results. The thing I enjoy most about Combat Fitness is that the routine is changed daily, it’s never boring and the camaraderie within the group is second to none. I have lost weight and many inches, but the muscle tone I have gained and my overall outlook on staying healthy and fit is without a doubt something that will stay with me for the rest of my life, thanks to Combat Fitness. |
